Studying at the Ike Library

Studying at the Ike Library Early on during my freshman year, I was always trying to find a peaceful and calm place to relax and study for exams. Although there are many great spots for studying, I was always drawn to study in the Ikenberry (Ike) Library. Until about halfway through my first semester, I didn’t realize that the second floor of the Ikenberry held such a gem. With many cushy chairs, bright lighting, and total silence, this is a study spot sure to satisfy the most devoted studiers. Before trying out the Ikenberry Library, I had tried studying in my room and even attempting to hit the books in the lobby of my residence hall (Snyder Hall). I was met with lukewarm success in both cases and decided that I would need to go elsewhere to reach my true studying potential. As much as I loved hanging out with my roommate or my fellow Snyder residents, I always wanted a little more focus on studies instead of inadvertently getting wrapped up in everything that my friends were doing. The Ikenberry Library even helped me to hold group studying sessions with friends, as well. There are several private group study rooms where a group of students studying for a big exam can go and study while getting some silence from the rest of campus. Remember, though, if you want to get your group into one of these coveted rooms, it might be a good idea to head over in the afternoon or early in the evening to reserve your room. I look back on finding the Ikenberry Library with a warm appreciation. Being successful as a student at Illinois requires being a diligent studier with a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle. In fact, I don’t think I would have been able to have half of my exam success without a fantastic study spot. No matter where you chose to study, it is a great to find a spot that will allow you to fully relax and focus on the material at hand. Your GPA will thank you later! From the Ike Library Website Jacob Class of 2019 I’m an Advertising student within the College of Media. My hometown is a place called Fairmount, Illinois, which is about 30 minutes from campus. I began my Illinois journey in the Division of General Studies.
